Waterfront Delight!

Piringa is a Maori word meaning haven or refuge, and it is an excellent description of this delightful property.

In the back, there is nothing but grass between the property and the water. The sun-drenched conservatory and living room offer fantastic views of the sea and the ever-changing estuary with its interesting birdlife. Step down to the water at high tide and launch the kayak!

In the front of the property, a large macrocarpa hedge blocks both road noise and wind. A deck catches the afternoon and evening sun. There is a lovely sheltered garden on the large section -- ideal for BBQing and outdoor games, plus a double carport with plenty of off-street parking.

We replaced the roof in November 2011 and this is now an extremely warm house! There is attic and underfloor insulation, a modern woodburner (wood supplied), a new heat transfer system, several electric heaters and electric blankets on every bed.

This is a fantastic property for large groups. The house is very large, with two toilets, an infinite hot water system, a kitchen table that extends to seat 10, and lots of seating (around the house there are four 3-seater sofas, one 2-seater sofa, 3 recliners and 5 armchairs, plus kitchen and outdoor chairs).

Are there any downsides? Well, not everyone will view the avocado green basin, and the ornate multi-coloured lounge carpet, as charming period features. And while it is very comfortably furnished, the furniture is neither new nor stylish. We regret that difficulties in child-proofing mean that it is not suitable for preschoolers, and if you're looking for a dishwasher, sorry but you're plum out of luck. Still, the beds are mostly large and comfortable and the views and outdoor areas are second to none. We love it, and we think you will too!
