Raetihi is the perfect base for exploring the Ruapehu region in winter and summer. We are 30 minutes from the carpark at Turoa skifield, and still only 45 minutes from Whakapapa. If you don't like to drive the Ohakune mountain road, the Snow express depot is right across the street.

There is good trout fishing five minutes drive away, and Outstanding trout fishing withing 20 minutes drive.

The Ruapehu Golf course is an excellent 18 hole course with majestic views of Mt Ruapehu from many of the fairways and greens.

We can provide a dial a driver service if you prefer to party in Ohakune. You get more than you expect when you stay with us. Free tea and coffee, snow reports and weather updates and anything else we can think of that will help you enjoy your stay. We can do private tours of the Royal Theatre and the Waimarino museum for a small donation to those Societys.

The Whanganui river, the Bridge to Nowhere, the Old Coach Road mountain bike ride and the Mangapurua mountain bike or tramping track, are all best visited by a stay in Raetihi. Base yourself in our relaxed and friendly historic town, and find the best unspoiled region of NZ. Farm tours and horse treks can be arranged too.
