    CHARLES LOWNDES

TOP ST HELIERS REAL ESTATE AGENT

30 YEARS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE IN NEW ZEALAND AND AROUND THE WORLD

    TRACK RECORD:

Since entering the Auckland metropolitan residential market in 2000, Charles has sold some $200,000,000 worth of residential property. This year, he is again increasing market share, in what appears to be a “flight to quality”. Charles holds the distinction of having sold the highest price house in Auckland for at least 5 years.

Charles is a professionally trained and experienced real estate negotiator and marketer with 30 years of knowledge in residential real estate here in Auckland and in Canterbury, Australia, France and the UK. He has owned and operated his own real estate agencies in Auckland (Ponsonby) and Sydney (Double Bay).

Overview of Charles’ current real estate credentials with Bayleys:

    * Top Office Salesperson 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009
    * Bayleys Real Estate Auckland Residential Top 5: 2008 and 2009
    * Multi-winner of Bayleys Client Service Excellence Awards 2008
    * NZ High Achiever Award 2007 and 2008
    * NZ winner of the 2005 Marketing Award

Preferring to focus his energy, enthusiasm and experience on sales and marketing functions on his “home turf,” he accepted recruitment by Bayleys St. Heliers office in 2005. Right from the start, Charles has performed as that office’s leading salesperson and in the top bracket of Bayleys Auckland salespeople.

Since entering the Auckland real estate market in 2000, Charles has sold some 300 homes for $200,000,000. Along the way, he has picked up a host of real estate awards, including NZ Top 2% status within the Professionals network in 2002 and 2003 and also Re/Max NZ 2004 Top 10 status.

A wealth of experience, a consistent talent for achieving record prices.

Charles has marketed and sold waterfront properties and mansions in Auckland’s Eastern Suburbs, Eastern Bays and Central West Bays, as well as in Sydney and Queensland. He made his first multi-million dollar residential sale in 1980 whilst working in Britain in his 20’s. In 2007 he achieved an Auckland City record price for a single home … at around $10,000,000!

In Britain and France, New South Wales, Queensland and Canterbury, Charles has developed, marketed and sold waterfront homes, manor houses, investment properties, apartment blocks, farming enterprises and notable country estates.

Selling throughout Central Auckland, since 2000 Charles has achieved many suburb and street new record prices throughout the Auckland isthmus. Whether it’s a mansion today or an investment unit tomorrow, he brings the same total, professional focus to bear for each and every client.

    Relishing the challenges

Charles enjoys the challenges of real estate, which he sees as understanding, really understanding, the questions being asked of him. With that understanding, solutions are often quite straightforward, despite the widest variety of complex issues that clients and buyers alike present to him on a daily basis.

An observer of the human condition and widely knowledgeable in real estate matters, he is just as comfortable problem solving for first homebuyers as he is working alongside the seriously wealthy.

    PERSONAL PROFILE:

Charles pursued his long time ambition to become involved in politics, taking a 2 year sabbatical in 1998-2000. He stood for Parliament in 1999 for the ACT Party. In 2001, he was elected by the voters of Auckland’s Eastern Suburbs to represent them on the Auckland District Health Board as centre-right Team Leader.

“Politics taught me humility”, says Charles, “and that’s a pretty good idea for anyone, let alone a real estate agent! Door knocking some 5,000 residents in a low income electorate, listening to their hopes and problems was an eye opener for which I will always be grateful.”

Now retired from politics, Charles enjoys moments of precious free time with Sally in nurturing their garden, reading history, observing fashions and following rugby and yachting.

Charles and Sally have brought up five children. With their youngest son, Oliver (now on “O.E.” in London) and their dogs, they live in St Heliers and have owned homes in Mission Bay, Kohimarama and Remuera since returning to Auckland in 1997. Their other young adults now live in Wellington, London, Canberra and rural New South Wales.

Originally Thames bargemen towing rafts of kauri logs from the Coromandel to build colonial Auckland and then coastal East Coast master mariners, Charles’ family traces its history in Auckland’s Eastern Suburbs back as far as the 1870s.

During Charles’ boarding school years in Oxford, Dorset and Somerset, he and his Kiwi father were resident in England and the Channel Islands. After cadetships with Merchant Bankers and Chartered Accountants in the City of London, Charles lived and worked in France then Australia before returning to New Zealand eighteen years ago.

Working as a family team, Charles is assisted by:

    SALLY LOWNDES

Sally is Charles’s wife and Oliver is their son. She has North Canterbury and Christchurch connections.

Sally is a licensed Real Estate Salesperson of note in her own right and also assists Charles in administrative areas. She has an extensive background in international fashion and a lifelong interest in interiors and fine houses, gathered from around the World.

Those who know Sally become friends. They instantly recognise her caring manner, her welcoming attitude and an ever present charm. Her inter-personal skills are such that clients, buyers and tenants warm to her instantly.

Running a professional real estate family for many years, Sally understands the challenges and revels in the opportunity to find homes to suit our clients’ buyers.

    OLIVER LOWNDES AREINZ
Oliver is presently on his “O.E.”, during which he intends to further his professional sales and marketing career in London and the USA.

Oliver chose to follow in the family footsteps and joined his father in 2003 after a successful first year at Auckland University and a strong record at Kings College. Determined to pursue real estate as a professional career, he studied real estate at Massey University part time in 2005 and 2006. Having achieved a very high pass rate, he was elected one of the youngest ever Associates of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand.

Oliver now holds the highest available professional real estate qualification in New Zealand and is entitled at law to own and manage a real estate agency.
