If keeping track of all the updates on all your favourite websites is becoming a major task - you need to use RSS. It acts like a delivery service from all these websites, meaning you don't need to go looking for updates they come to you!
So now you donlt need to miss out on the latest property listings with Realestate.co.nz's RSS feed!

What is RSS?

RSS stands for 'Really Simple Syndication' and is an easy and free way of keeping informed of website updates automatically. An increasing number of websites and blogs now carry easy-to-set-up RSS feeds which alert people when their sites have been updated.

Realestate.co.nz also offers an RSS feed service. Our RSS feeds provide you with a time-saving way of viewing new property listings, as soon as they become available. So, instead of having to browse or search our website for new listings in the categories or locations you are interested in, you can subscribe to our RSS feed and we will send you the details, as soon as they are published.

The benefits of RSS feeds include being able to easily stay informed by retrieving summaries of the latest content from the sites you are interested in. You save time by not needing to visit each site individually. And, what's more, RSS feeds ensure your privacy as you are not required to join each site's e-mail newsletter.

To best explain this in really simple way - have a look at this video, it makes what seems like a complex idea, really easy to understand!

How do I get set up for RSS feeds?

Getting set up to receive RSS feeds is simple. You need to do two things:

First step:
You will need a RSS newsreader that will allow you to collect and display RSS feeds.

There are many readers available for a variety of platforms, however as with most things on the web - Google has made it easy! Just go to the Google Reader Tour and get started making your life a lot easier.

Second step:
Once you've set up your newsreader, you will need to subscribe to receive our RSS feeds. On sites that provide RSS feeds you will see an orange logo or the word RSS. With Google Reader set up and signed in when you click the link your Reader will add that page or that website or blog to your favourites. If you have to add in a URL address to subscribe to our RSS feeds, please enter our URL as http://www.realestate.co.nz).

Once you've completed those two steps, you will be set to receive alerts of new listings, as soon as they are published on Realestate.co.nz. These will be sent to you automatically and you can view them whenever you are ready. Property hunting has never been easier!
