This North Island Thermal Coal Resource is estimated @ 25 million tonnes of opencast and 17 million tonnes of underground coal.

All of the hard work is almost completed to prepare this resource for immediate action to build the infrastructure to enable mining to commence as the required consents are so very close to being obtained. There is approximately 15 million tonnes of reserve coal that has been identified as being cost efficient to mine and as world coal prices increase it is expected that the rest of the resource will also be mined when required. A Port is conveniently close by to allow for export of the coal.
