This architecturally designed contemporary home offers relaxed, easy living. When the current owners moved to Waipu Cove in 2017, after many years in interior design, they worked with architect Jeff Brickell to create a home that suited working from home, hosting family and friends with their own space, and comfortably accommodating larger gatherings.
The result is a home designed in three pods. The main living pod features open plan living, dining and kitchen areas with expansive views across Bream Bay, the islands and rural landscape to the Brynderwyns. Sliding doors open onto large decks, ideal for everyday living and entertaining, while two walls of library shelving provide generous storage. A large walk-in store off the kitchen keeps wine, glassware, platters, household items and recycling neatly tucked away.
Across the breezeway, the second pod includes the main bedroom, bathroom and office or second bedroom. Both rooms open directly onto the surrounding decks.
Downstairs is a separate apartment with two large bedrooms (one suitable as a living space), a bunkroom, bathroom and a kitchen area which could be developed in line with Whangarei District Council rules. Both main rooms open to a private courtyard with an outdoor shower.
The carport includes a discreet laundry and garden shed. While not a conventional four-bedroom home, the layout offers excellent flexibility for home and income, working from home, or multi-generational living - all within 2 hours of Auckland CBD. Set on a one-hectare landscaped section with maturing trees, there is scope to extend the home and potential for subdivision. The owners are also happy to remove the library joinery if not required.
The safe cycleway which takes you to either Waipu Cove or Waipu village is just at the start of the road, a mere 600 meters away. Follow the path to Waipu Cove for great coffee, a quick swim and the morning paper.
