Silo Stay is a unique accommodation business located in Little River, considered to be the gateway to picturesque Banks Peninsula, approximately 45 minutes' drive from Christchurch on the main route to Akaroa, a favoured holiday destination, just 30 minutes' drive away. The use of silos as accommodation units has created huge interest since establishment in 2014. The eight two-storey silo units and single storey accessible unit are crafted inside with industrial style cutting edge décor. A self-contained eco-friendly wastewater treatment system, use of used handbasin water to fill toilet cisterns, and an pellet boiler which provides potable hot water for bathroom and kitchen use, and is an efficient heating system in the silos. Guests are pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the silos. As part of the offering to guests, a Tesla charging portal is onsite to charge Tesla vehicles.
Silo Stay is a well-established profitable business, with performance continuing to grow over the six years that our Vendors have operated it. While there are no on-site accommodation options for an owner/Manager, adjacent and local options are available. An established local cleaning team in place.
Silo Stay is located on 1,050 m2 of land adjacent to the renowned Little River Café and Gallery, a stopover for those travelling from Christchurch to Akaroa and the Eastern bays of Banks Peninsula. Returning traffic also passes here, offering two opportunities for attracting vehicle and bicycle-borne occupants. There is an onsite reception office for guests, with an established contactless check-in system.
Little River is at the eastern end of the popular Christchurch to Little River (cycling/walking) Rail Trail, which follows the route of the former Little River railway (up to 1962). With a population of around 1,000, many commute to Christchurch for work, but prefer to live in the peaceful surroundings offered here. Little River is an excellent staging point for day trips to Akaroa, the bays of Banks Peninsula, ocean visits ( Birdlings Flat), lakes (Wairewa and Waihora), and tantalising walks.
