We’ve been asked to sell this old bach and have begrudgingly agreed to do so. Honestly, I can’t imagine why anyone would want it - it’s as old as dirt.
Speaking of dirt, it comes with more than 2,000 square metres of the stuff. I don’t know about you, but to me that just sounds like a lot of work.
It’s bloody close to the road as well; a road that’s only getting busier because apparently fancy golf courses and old farm buildings that have had a lick of paint are in vogue.
If all that wasn’t enough, the damn thing faces north-west and there’s a ruddy great body of water right out the front. With such late sun reflecting off the lake, you can forget about trying to watch TV all afternoon and evening.
Perhaps I’m being a bit “glass half empty” about it, though.
In 1953 this was only the second bach to be built on Lake Hayes, and it has been enjoyed by five generations of the same family since then. Thankfully, though, no one is under any illusion as to the absence of tangible value in the house, which is great if you’re buying to develop.
Speaking of development, there’s a lot you can do with 2,000 square metres. A particularly substantial single residence wouldn’t be out of place, nor would two or three standalone homes. The site could even support a larger development similar to “The Elms” nearby.
Whichever path you choose, road noise is unlikely to be of any real concern. Owners along this sought-after golden mile have typically designed and specified homes to mitigate any effects of their proximity to the road.
Needless to say, when you have the luxury of choosing anywhere on a farm to build, your selection endures in perpetuity. Overlooking Bendemeer Bay Reserve, and with no risk of its magnificent view being compromised, the sale of this property could be described as the opportunity of a lifetime.
