Zespri license comprises 9.21 ca/ha of conventional G3, and 5.43 ca/ha organic G3. The actual canopy type currently being grown is;

6.14 ca/ha of mature conventional G3
8.5 ca/ha of organic G3 of mixed age, with 2.49 ha fully mature and the balance covering a graft year range of 2020 to 2022.

A canopy structure upgrade has just been completed. The orchard is exceedingly well sheltered. Irrigation supply is via Maungatapere Irrigation Company. The Maungatapere growing area delivers a superb growing environment, is well serviced with orchard logistics, is less affected by labour supply pinch points, and provides geographic diversity in the event of major main growing area weather events.
