The forest has proven productivity and favourable harvesting economics, with approximately 90% of the area suited to ground-based operations, a significant internal roading network, an on-site metal resource, and a haul distance of approximately 106 kilometres to Port Nelson.

Beyond its forestry attributes, Howard Forest encompasses significant areas of indigenous forest land and carries landownership rights over two joint venture forest areas, entitling the landowner to a share of stumpage proceeds upon eventual harvest.
