The company holds Electricity Operator status with MBIE and operates through a registered distributor arrangement with Smart Net Limited, which manages all regulatory, market interface, and billing obligations.

Day-to-day management requirements are near zero. Fault response and electrical maintenance are handled by specialist contractors, leaving the owner to receive monthly network revenue with no operational involvement.

Revenue is derived from network charges paid by electricity retailers trading across Cappella Power's networks. These charges are set within the Commerce Commission's regulatory framework for electricity distribution, these charges increase in line with the local networks price increases.

The three wholly owned networks are fully sold and fully operational.
