Tucked into untouched native bush and framed by towering Kauri, this architecturally designed four-bedroom, two-bathroom home delivers privacy that's genuinely hard to find. Glimpses of the Hen and Chicken Islands peek through the canopy, while a crystal-clear river mark the boundary with magical waterfall not far up stream.

Floor-to-ceiling double glazing and wide stacker doors draw the forest right into the living spaces. The high-end kitchen, dining and lounge all look straight into the trees, and the living area opens onto a covered deck that's perfect for entertaining in any weather. A wood fire, earthy tones and soft mood lighting create a warm, relaxed feel, with native birdsong for company.

Downstairs is purpose-built for self-sufficient living: two large bedrooms and a rumpus that spills out to the front lawn, garden and direct bush access. A separate two-bay shed with attached double carport adds practical space. Foundations, earthworks and retaining are already complete, and native gardens and fruit trees are established around the home. Private bush tracks wind down through the forest to the river.

The village of Parua Bay is within walking distance, including the school, shops and cafes. Whangarei Airport is about 20 minutes away, Whangarei CBD around 25, and Auckland roughly three hours by car. Beyond the village, the Whangarei Heads Peninsula opens up sheltered harbour bays, white-sand beaches, and outstanding fishing, snorkelling, diving and surfing, plus some of Northland's best coastal and mountain walks.

A substantial home, true privacy and ancient native forest: it's a combination rarely found. Contact Jono Reeves, New Zealand Sotheby's International Realty.
