Richard began his professional career as a draughtsman inthe public sector, where he developed a keen eye for detail and a strongfoundation in land and infrastructure planning. This early experience sparkedan interest in land development and led him to establish his own surveyingcompany in the late 1990s. As owner and manager, he built the business into arespected and successful operation known for accuracy, reliability, andclient-focused service.

After more than a decade in surveying, Richard made the moveinto residential real estate. Over the past 12 years, he has establishedhimself as a trusted and results-driven salesperson, helping a wide range ofclients buy and sell property throughout the region. His background insurveying gives him a unique edge when it comes to understanding sitepotential, boundaries, and development opportunities—offering clients a levelof insight that goes beyond the typical sales process.

Outside of work, Richard has enjoyed the laid-back coastallifestyle of Wainui Beach for over 40 years. He takes full advantage of thesummer months, swimming, fishing, and making the most of everything the areahas to offer. Family is a central part of his life, and he and his partner lovespending time with their three young granddaughters who live outside Gisborne,as well as traveling regularly to the Pacific Islands and Australia.

In his younger years, Richard was a competitive footballplayer and cyclist. These days, he’s more likely to be found cheering from thesidelines as an enthusiastic armchair critic, still passionate about sport butwith a slightly more relaxed approach.
