Who Am I?

The Judd name is one of the “Old Names of Thames”. My family has been part of the Thames community for generations. I’m a fifth-generation Thames-ite, with more generations following behind!

I’ve been married to my wife, Karen for over 40 years. She owns Snipz Hair Design on Mary Street, where our daughter Hilary also works as a hairdresser. Our son Richard is a professional rugby player. He has played Super Rugby for the Hurricanes as well as in Japan, the USA & France and is currently representing the Bay of Plenty in the NPC and the Waikato Chiefs in Super Rugby. Together, our children have given us four beautiful grandchildren, Taylor, Baylee, Lukas and Millie, who keep us both very busy and very proud.

Developing a Competitive Spirit

I developed my competitive streak at a young age, swimming competitively at regional and national levels and playing club rugby and squash. These days, I enjoy fishing, following Richard’s rugby and getting away in our motorhome.

From Livestock to Real Estate

I spent my first 10 working years in the livestock industry, starting as a clerk with Dalgety's before becoming a livestock agent and auctioneer.

It was invaluable grounding. I learnt the importance of treating people with respect, listening to clients, honouring a handshake and, above all, keeping your word. All being values I’ve carried throughout my career.

A Career Built in Thames

I began my real estate career with Richardsons in 1992, determined to build something for the long term. I gained my salesperson’s licence, Branch Manager’s Licence and ultimately the industry’s highest qualification, Associate of the Real Estate Institute (AREINZ). I also became Richardsons’ Company Auctioneer, drawing on my livestock auctioneering experience. In 2001, three partners and I purchased the Thames branch of Richardsons Real Estate. As my partners retired, I gradually bought them out, eventually becoming the sole owner.

With 35 years in real estate and a lifetime in Thames, I bring a depth of local knowledge and experience that’s hard to match. I know the streets, neighborhoods, homes and people. I’ve been through the bulk of Thames homes during my career, giving me a practical understanding of the local market that goes well beyond the statistics. Clients value my honest, down-to-earth approach. I keep things simple and stay focused on what matters most.
