MANOR WITH PRAIRIE ON RIVERBANK This manor is generally presented as dating from the 15th century (the period when it was renovated) but its origins are believed to be much older. Located on La Claise, at the entrance to La Brenne, it was the seat of a fief that belonged to the Abbey of Méobec. In the 13th and 14th centuries it belonged to the Parnac family, then it became the property of the lords of Chabenet and of many others over the centuries. From the manor house, today only an elegant 15th-century main block remains, on three levels plus an attic, flanked by a square stair tower with a main entrance door of ogival style, and it retains a round tower which is the old dovecote. This residence would deserve a renovation while preserving the vestiges of the past that define its identity, including its well located in a living room wall, this noble country residence having been built to live self-sufficient for several months if necessary. Today at the first level there is a large kitchen and a large living/dining room, a bathroom with shower, laundry, toilet, cellar and storeroom in the basement. The stone staircase leads to the second level where there are two landings distribution four bedrooms of which two have a dressing room, a toilet, then on the third level two large non-habitable rooms as they are, and finally the attic which presents a magnificent boat-shaped vaulted framework. From the bedrooms' windows you will have a magnificent view of the river that borders the property, surrounded by about 3.5 hectares of meadows. The manor's outbuildings have also stood the test of time, and you will have, for any type of activities, tourist or otherwise, a renovated small house, a barn with an awning, and another large stone building composed of old stables with an attic above, one end of which has been converted into a small hunting lodge. You will be in the countryside while being 15 km from a commercial area of Châteauroux and barely 15 minutes from the A20 motorway. If you have an agricultural project requiring more land and/or wood, simply a few more hectares is possible, or if housing and/or additional agricultural buildings are needed, the adjacent organic farm with livestock is also available for sale; I can provide all the necessary additional information and introduce you to this operation which I market under another brand.
